Join our national campaign, celebrating where GCSE Drama can take you

This autumn, The Paper Birds are launching a widespread Drama Education Advocacy Campaign.

#ididGCSEdrama will celebrate, platform and champion the many diverse career paths that real people have followed after completing a GCSE Drama qualification.

We are inviting people working in every sector, to proudly claim they studied Drama at GCSE. We want to be surprised, wowed and in awe of the many diverse job roles and skills that drama influences; from dentists to nursery workers, from politicans to police.

If you studied Drama at GCSE, we would love to hear from you!

We are developing a social media campaign, with videos, photos and quotes from people who still use the core skills that GCSE drama instils, in their everyday lives.

Please submit a short video to camera – read on to follow the video brief…

#ididGCSEDrama  – Video / Filming Brief

  • Plan what you are going to say – perhaps choose a few key skills directly from the table below that you will mention.
  • Set up a well-lit, face on shot where you can be seen clearly. (Perhaps you are able to do this in your place of work, so we can see the location as a backdrop?)
  • Make sure there is no background noise.
  • Film your video in portrait.
  • Film yourself clearly saying the following:

“I did GCSE Drama. It taught me…. X, Y, and Z. I am a… ‘Dentist’.”

Please try to choose skills that are still relevant in your current job role, whatever they may be.

Send your video via email kylie@thepaperbirds.com or via WhatsApp to 07855098063

Please include your name, job role, and a statement ensuring that you consent for your image and the content to be shared on social media.

Timeline: Please submit your video content to us by 1 November 2026.

We will go live with the campaign in November 2026.  Don’t forget to follow us online: @ThePaperBirds

We look forward to hearing from you! Thanks for your support in helping us fly the flag for Drama!

Why are we doing this?

The data tells a very clear story: The number of students studying drama is declining, and the cultural value of studying drama is not understood.

We want to change that.
